After my return from Myanmar and Thailand to Manila mid February, I have mainly recovered from my trip and have enjoyed besides two classical concerts something very rare for the Philippines, means the show of an international rock band. Finally real music and not the very popular babble and sniveler music on an alarmingly deep level according to the motto “howling with wolves, lesson 1”, but a concert of Journey, well known since the Seventies. How comes ? Why does this band stops in Manila ? Reason: The new singer is a Filipino. And so thousands of Filipinos were attending this concert, but primarly enjoyed the smoother songs and were running their handys. So you don’t call it “hands up“ but “handys up“. Nevertheless, it was great to hear live music. Typically for this country, the concert did take place on a huge parking area besides a shopping center (directly at the sea….) and in the beginning of the concert there was not music but advertisment of the endless partners of this concert. The seats directly at the stage were a hefty 200 USD so that in the first standing area row, I was about 150 m away from the stage. But that’s the way here where even a rock concert with a filipino is a social event…
Additionally, I enjoyed 2 weeks of vacation on a neighbouring island directly at the beach, where I was visiting many of my friends and where I mentally prepared for my next challenge:
End of April I flew to Switzerland and went on the way of St. James, a catholic pilgrimage path, which brought me from Einsiedeln across whole Switzerland to Geneva, across whole of France to the spanish border and and across Spain until Santiago de Compostela. According to planning exactly 2213 km, which I have accomplished in exactly 70 days.
Because the report of the way of St. James got bigger than expected, I have made an own blog out of it. When you click on the link, you will arrive automatically on my page, but unfortunately only in german.
